What Christmas Is

Christmas is not just a holiday.  Nor is Christmas just about a baby being born in a manger.  Yes,  we celebrate Jesus being born--and don't minimize this--if Jesus hadn't been born of a virgin, He would not have been God!  Jesus Christ is God Incarnate, God in the flesh!  And wonder of wonders that God would come to this earth--why? to die for mankind!  How precious, how wonderful that is!  That is the truth of Christmas--Jesus Christ was born so that He might die for us!!  That is the wonder of Christmas-- Jesus coming to earth to provide salvation to lowly sinners like you and I.  But that really is only the beginning.  Christmas is all about Christ and the gospel--His death, burial, and resurrection.  Once you start to tell about God Incarnate, you just must tell the whole story!

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 3:16 is probably the most well-known verse in all the Bible.  What does it tell us?  God loved us so much that He was willing to give His only Son as a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.  All we need to do is accept that precious gift, trusting in His finished work upon the cross.  He died for you…won't you trust Him as your personal Savior today?           If you should have further questions, you can look into some of my old postings about salvation…or you can email me.  I would be very happy to answer any questions you might have.  Please do not delay this very important decision.

         May you truly know
         the Christ of Christmas!

  1. Hey Merle, my name is Sandra. I read several blogs on religion and prayer and I've i feel like I've ended up here once before. I ran across this prayer exchange website and I haven't had the chance to ask my Church what their stance is on it.

I'm a bit confused, I think that there are some benefits to a site like this but some Christians might find it questionable.

    The website is http://www.prayermarket.com/.

If you're looking for a topic to blog about, I would be curious to hear your thoughts and know what your stance is on this type of prayer service.

I have your blog in my feed reader so i'll check back, God bless

  2. Hey Sandra! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back with you. It's taken me long enough to get back to posting on my own blog, let alone responding to your question or comment. This isn't my usual subject matter for a blog; but I'll answer you, just the same.

As for your question, I think I would agree with you that the Prayer Market is probably very beneficial, yet I might be one of the ones that might find it questionable. I believe God is in full support of the local New Testament church; and for that reason, I think not only the preaching that goes on, but also our prayer groups should take place in/or through the local church. This kind of reminds me of a problem in our church's little town. It's made up of primarily Christian Reformed Churches, in addition to the normal Lutheran, Methodist, etc. The problem here is they desire to have all the pastors take turns preaching in other area churches--and our pastor will not succumb to that. Why?--because it would mean he couldn't preach from the Word of God the way He feels led to; and that's just wrong. You see all these things are encouraging a one-world church or religion; and God doesn't support the one-world church or religion. He states in His Word, in John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

It would be wonderful if everyone believed the same way, but the problem is we don't. The devil has blinded the eyes of too many, and way too many have encouraged the thought of a one-world church or religion; we just don't believe the same way. Jesus stated in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Stick to the local, New Testament church...and stick to the Bible!

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate all comments and discussion.

    In Christ,
    Merle

All that I Need

Psalm 23:1 "...I shall not want."                                                      This is rather a continuation of the last posting.   Although I'm not inclined to use other versions of the Bible, sometimes it is good just to get an idea for study purposes.   Course, if I were a student of the Hebrew and Greek, I suppose that wouldn't be necessary.   At any rate, other versions would state it this way: "There is nothing I lack," or, "I have all that I need."     God is so good to provide us everything that we have need of.   Course, our problem a lot of the time is, we get our wants and our needs mixed up.   Especially here in America, we have more than enough...certai...

sanctified, and meet for the Master's use

Let me first apologize for not checking into my blog in a long while.  Not that I’ve ever been very consistent or constant, but I’d like to be.  I know I don’t have thousands of readers; but I do have some…and God seems to be using this blog to some degree, so for that I am thankful. Let’s see if I can get back to the subject at hand…the 23 rd Psalm!   We had left off at the middle of verse five.   I don’t believe I touched on this last time, so let me first say, at verse five there is a change in relationship:   It changes from a scene of traveling with our Shepherd out in the wilderness and fields, to a scene of hospitality and friendship inside his tent or home.   The change goes from shepherd-and-sheep imagery to one of intimate friendship.   Get this, dear Christian: God desires a close, intimate friendship with us!   That is the greatest scene changer and thought we should capture when reading this psalm!   God de...
