My Family

I love my family... they're all terrific!  I know many times I must take them for granted... but I love 'em all!

my husband Chap
This is probably my husband's first love!  He loves and lives for C A R S !!  This was taken a number of years ago at the Minneapolis car show.  We made it a special trip, just the two of us, for a birthday celebration for the both of us; but I think he got the better end of the deal!

Chap's in the Army.  He joined up for the Reserves in 1992, I believe; and then he decided to go Active Duty in 1996.  He's been in ever since, and doesn't plan to retire for another 12 years.  Thankfully, he hasn't had to go anywhere overseas; but we move on the average every 3-4 years.  That gets a little old! This is our second time back in Wisconsin, and we're lovin' it!  We moved here just this last February...in the winter, if you can believe it!  But it's wonderful here...nothing like having four seasons once again!!

that's me, of course!
As you can see, Chap's love for cars has trickled down to me!!  I especially love hot rods.  I wouldn't mind owning a '32 or '34 Ford...maybe someday!  lol  This picture was taken in Door County, WI, back in 2005.  It was one of our many anniversary trips we've started taking.  We enjoy finding a cute little Bed & Breakfast (somewhere we haven't been before), and just get out and explore the area.  We enjoy hiking or shopping, or just the run-of-the-mill sightseeing.  This was just a small little car show, people getting together to show off their oldies!  Lots of fun!

our oldest daughter, Shannon

Shannon just turned 24 this last November.  She lives in Tomah, WI, with her husband Joe.  And hey, we moved back to Wisconsin at just the right time!        ...wow, do I need to upsdate this!  Shannon is past the point of expecting our first grandchild...we just celebrated Maddie's 1st birthday!!  Madilynn Jo--what a sweetheart!  --born February 4, 2011!!  I'll try to add some pictures of her at the bottom for an update; but I know I also added some of the first pics to my main page.  How wonderful it is to be grandparents!!  We just love it!!

Shannon works as a McDonald's manager.  She loves it (well, most of the time!), and Joe works at the nearby Walmart distribution center.  Oh yeah, he is also a writer on the side!  He's already had two or three books published, science fiction type.  They're both enjoying being parents...and we're all looking forward to the day when add yet another child to their little family!

Shannon and Joe
our son, Jonathan
This is Jonathan. He is 21 years old and in his junior year of college.  He's attending West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA.  He surrendered to preach the summer before he left for college his freshman year, so we're excited to see how the Lord will use him.

Originally, I had posted that Jonathan had already found himself a girl...well, things change.  :(  But we know God has someone very wonderful waiting for him...so we're just awaiting the day to see!  Patience is sometimes a hard thing to practice...but we do know that  God's ways are always best...not always easy, but ALWAYS best!

Julie

And this is Julianne--who usually goes by Julie.  She just turned 13 in September, and although she's our youngest, she's always been our most active child!  She abounds with energy!!  She's definitely her own person (as each of them are!).  She's all girl...she loves pink and kitty cats...and all things feminine!  She's always a happy, sweet, friendly girl...and growing up far too fast!

She's in the 7th grade this year, and we're back to home-schooling once again!  A few years back, we had her (and her brother) in a Christian day school, but with the move came changes once again!  We had home-schooled the kids for about 12 years...so this comes as nothing new.

                                                                              Maddie

This is Maddie--our first granddaughter!  We couldn't be prouder!  These pics were taken just before Christmas.  She isn't walking yet, but it won't be long!  Be on the guard, Shannon and Joe; she'll be into everything!!

Well, that closes out my little family in full detail!  Hope you've enjoyed this extra addition!  Hope you enjoy each of my pages!  Feel free to browse through and stay a while...and please feel free to come back time and time again!

What Christmas Is

Christmas is not just a holiday.  Nor is Christmas just about a baby being born in a manger.  Yes,  we celebrate Jesus being born--and don't minimize this--if Jesus hadn't been born of a virgin, He would not have been God!  Jesus Christ is God Incarnate, God in the flesh!  And wonder of wonders that God would come to this earth--why? to die for mankind!  How precious, how wonderful that is!  That is the truth of Christmas--Jesus Christ was born so that He might die for us!!  That is the wonder of Christmas-- Jesus coming to earth to provide salvation to lowly sinners like you and I.  But that really is only the beginning.  Christmas is all about Christ and the gospel--His death, burial, and resurrection.  Once you start to tell about God Incarnate, you just must tell the whole story!  John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlast...

All that I Need

Psalm 23:1 "...I shall not want."                                                      This is rather a continuation of the last posting.   Although I'm not inclined to use other versions of the Bible, sometimes it is good just to get an idea for study purposes.   Course, if I were a student of the Hebrew and Greek, I suppose that wouldn't be necessary.   At any rate, other versions would state it this way: "There is nothing I lack," or, "I have all that I need."     God is so good to provide us everything that we have need of.   Course, our problem a lot of the time is, we get our wants and our needs mixed up.   Especially here in America, we have more than enough...certai...

sanctified, and meet for the Master's use

Let me first apologize for not checking into my blog in a long while.  Not that I’ve ever been very consistent or constant, but I’d like to be.  I know I don’t have thousands of readers; but I do have some…and God seems to be using this blog to some degree, so for that I am thankful. Let’s see if I can get back to the subject at hand…the 23 rd Psalm!   We had left off at the middle of verse five.   I don’t believe I touched on this last time, so let me first say, at verse five there is a change in relationship:   It changes from a scene of traveling with our Shepherd out in the wilderness and fields, to a scene of hospitality and friendship inside his tent or home.   The change goes from shepherd-and-sheep imagery to one of intimate friendship.   Get this, dear Christian: God desires a close, intimate friendship with us!   That is the greatest scene changer and thought we should capture when reading this psalm!   God de...
