Oh, the Blessings of God!

Psalm 23:5c
“…my cup runneth over.”

My, what a long time it’s been since I’ve written!  I am so sorry.  We all tend to get busy with the things of this life, and some things just get put on hold.  I will try to do better!

Last time, I ended with the thought that our cup should be running over…rather a lead in to this next section!  Our cup should be running over; the blessings of God truly abound!

I think for this section, I am just going to recount each promise phrase that is spoken of in this psalm:

(1)     Promise of Shepherding: tending, feeding, and guarding His precious sheep

(2)     Promise of Providing: providing for all our needs
If we will cast all our cares on Him, He will meet those needs
A God-centered life brings peace and contentment

(3)      Promise of Rest
God knows just when we are in need of rest---and He provides it

(4)     Promise of Leading
  God leads—we are to follow!
We must remember His way is always perfect!  His way is always best!

(5)    Promise of Restoration & Healing
God heals us of all our heart and soul’s turmoils and hurts

(6)    Promise of Righteous Living
If we follow Him and His leading, we’re going to live righteously

(7)    Promise of His Presence
 Trust God—He is with you
God is our strength and confidence

(8)    Promise of His Protection and Comfort
(9)    Promise to Live Triumphantly
Follow Christ and blessings will abound

(10)  Promise of Sanctification and the Master’s Use
A walk and work with God—working in and through us

There are so many precious promises throughout God's Word.  I do believe these rank right up near the top!

I hope this little review was a blessing to you.  Never forget all His many precious promises!

What Christmas Is

Christmas is not just a holiday.  Nor is Christmas just about a baby being born in a manger.  Yes,  we celebrate Jesus being born--and don't minimize this--if Jesus hadn't been born of a virgin, He would not have been God!  Jesus Christ is God Incarnate, God in the flesh!  And wonder of wonders that God would come to this earth--why? to die for mankind!  How precious, how wonderful that is!  That is the truth of Christmas--Jesus Christ was born so that He might die for us!!  That is the wonder of Christmas-- Jesus coming to earth to provide salvation to lowly sinners like you and I.  But that really is only the beginning.  Christmas is all about Christ and the gospel--His death, burial, and resurrection.  Once you start to tell about God Incarnate, you just must tell the whole story!  John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlast...

Seven Deadly Devices

7 Deadly Devices of the Devil 2 Cor. 2:11 "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices." The devil is always prepared to do battle--we need to be doubly prepared.   In any way Satan can defeat you, he will!   If he can make you ineffective as a Christian, he will!   Be on guard…and be prepared! This is taken from my Sunday school lesson just this last Sunday! (as prepared and taught by Rick Laing at Waupun Baptist Church on March 27, 2011).   I cannot take credit for it; but I can tell you the devil has definitely used every single device in my life--and he will in yours as well.   Please stand guard--be prepared in God's power! Diversion - (turning the mind from great things to minimal things, from the eternal to the temporal) Delusion - (lies and wiles) sin is pleasurable--but only for a season.   Satan knows your weaknesses and he will attack more in those areas just because he knows where you're weake...

Patience Waits upon the Lord

Psalm 27:14 "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee."   Isaiah 30:15b "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."        James 1:4-5 "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.      If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." __________________________________ What do all of these verses have in common?   They all have an ingredient of waiting upon the Lord or patience .   And why are these such good qualities to have?   Many times in our fleshly natures, we tend to just do what we think is best, or worse, we tend to think we can just do it ourselves.   Those are both very poor responses....
